Installation of the Programmer on Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10

On some machines running Windows 8, 8.1 and Windows 10, installation of the RT Systems Programmers will display an error warning of Windows version compatibility. This seems to happen on machines that have been upgraded to Windows 8 or 10 from earlier Windows versions rather than on new machines with a fresh installation of Windows
The correction for this issue lies in running the installation in compatibility mode for Windows 7. Only the installation needs this correction. The RT Systems Programmer will run just fine once installation is complete.
Basically, find the setup file on the CD and change the compatibility to Windows 7 in the properties for that file. Then run setup by double clicking on the file as it appears in the file listing.
The following is offered to help you through each step of that process.
| Move your mouse to the very lower left of the Windows screen and right click on the Windows Start icon to reveal the Start Menu.
Left click on File Explorer in that list. File Explorer opens.
| In the list presented, find you CD drive in the list on the left. Click to display the list of files on the right.
In the list on the right, right click on Setup. Left click on Properties in the menu that opens.
|In the Properties for the file, select the Compatibility tab.
On that tab, make the shown changes.
Click Apply then OK to close.
|Double click on Setup in the file list to complete installation.
|Remember, compatibility mode is applied ONLY to the installation. The program will raise an error if you change compatibility mode on the icon after installation is complete.
