I purchased a Leixen VV-898 (v1.08) radio, and manually programmed in a couple of channels to see if the radio worked. It did. I tried using the Leixen software to program the radio, but it seems that the software version is behind the radio version. It didn't work. I also tried a popular freeware software program. No joy. Again, a version mismatch. Having used several RTSystems software/cable packages I knew that I could count on RTSystems to provide a functional programming capability. I was right. The RTSystems software and cable worked immediately out of the box. No problems. While spending $50 for software and a cable to support a $60 radio may seem unreasonable, in the end I got a working, programmable radio for $110 total. Not bad.

LXN-898 Programming Software and USB-30 cable for the Leixen VV-898 was fantastic. Too bad the Chinese guys cant get it right. Had no problems programming the radio with RT !!

Great Products
I use several of RT Systems programming cables and software. Every system works great and so easy to use. It's great to cut and paste from one system to another. I program hundreds of radios for our County Disaster Communications Preparedness Program using ham radio, it makes my job so much easier. Thanks for a top notch product!!

During installation you will be given a choice of which programmer you need for your particular radio. Make your selection from those presented then click Next to continue.
RT Systems programmers work with the radio specified from the manufacturer shown in the description.
RT Systems programmers are designed to work with manufacturer's firmware or approved firmware upgrades. There is no guarantee, and a great deal of doubt, that the programmer will work with a radio that has been upgraded with a firmware version that is not from the manufacturer. RT Systems takes no responsibility for changes made to such a modified radio during programming.
No implication is made that a programmer is appropriate for a radio with a similar number from a different manufacturer. Actually, purchasing a programmer for a radio from a different manufacturer just because it has a similar number is strongly discouraged.
RT Systems takes no responsibility for the performance of your radio should you choose to use a programmer other than that listed specifically for the manufacturer and model of that radio you are attempting to program. Exceptions are noted in the description for several products. Check there if you feel your radio is a variant of the one shown, but be advised that the manufacturer will never vary. If the model is not listed, you should check with RT Systems prior to your purchase.
