Would love to review the software, but...
Sorry I can't review the product because I haven't received it yet. Seems very likely that USPS has lost it. Funny about the request for a review because just this morning I e-mailed RT Systems to request their help through their shipping and tracking system to possibly find where the product could be. Perhaps I will be able to provide a review of their response to my inquiry soon. I do have another version of their programming software and find it to be excellent.

Very Good Product
I downloaded the electronic version of the software for my Yaesu FT-70D on my Dell laptop. No issues at all! This really made the job super easy!

FT-70DR programming cable
Since the USB-57B cable is the SAME cable for the VX-7R and the FT70DR, and I understand thus far, that the VX-7R USB to Serial cable does NOT work with the FT70DR, I will not buy this product. Why the heck it doesn't work is beyond me as the two radios both use the USB-57D cable, so what would be the difference of using a USB to serial cable designed for the VX-7R?

Won't work with any cable other than their own
Disappointed that RT Systems software won't even load until the RT Systems cable is plugged in. I have a programming cable that should be usable (extended 4 conductor plug), but I can't even try it. Yes, I checked the box that says 'I already own the USB-57B cable'. I think it would be nice if they came right out and said 'This won't work with ANY OTHER CABLE than our own'.

The Windows version of the RT Systems programmer for this radio now works with "generic" USB cables. Realize, however, that RT Systems programs the radio through the speaker/mic jack using external electronics that form the com port. USB cables have become a little more consistent and reliable and there may be one available that works as well as the USB-57B. Consider this as you decide which cable will be best for you.

The cable may not work on Windows 11.
You are responsible for finding the drivers for that cable and assigning the correct com port.
Be sure the cable is wired properly and has the proper electronics and connection for the radio. This cable must address the speaker mic jack of this radio which as a 3-conductor plug and must get past the screw threads at the top.
USB-57B
The RT Systems USB-57B cable works with Windows 11
It is wired properly both at the computer and radio ends to address this radio.
Drivers are installed during installation of the programmer. Sometime help is needed to complete driver installation: we are here to help with that.
You do not need to know or assign a com port in the program. The programmer finds the cable automatically.
If there is a problem with communications between the radio and the computer, we are here to help....and we know LOTS of tricks!!
With all the considerations about cables, also consider how differently that radio programs with the RT Systems programmer compared to the Yaesu ADMS-10 programmer. Here is a video to help you decide which will work better for you.

RT Systems programmers work with the radio specified from the manufacturer shown in the description.
RT Systems programmers are designed to work with manufacturer's firmware or approved firmware upgrades. There is no guarantee, and a great deal of doubt, that the programmer will work with a radio that has been upgraded with a firmware version that is not from the manufacturer. RT Systems takes no responsibility for changes made to such a modified radio during programming.
No implication is made that a programmer is appropriate for a radio with a similar number from a different manufacturer. Actually, purchasing a programmer for a radio from a different manufacturer just because it has a similar number is strongly discouraged.
RT Systems takes no responsibility for the performance of your radio should you choose to use a programmer other than that listed specifically for the manufacturer and model of that radio you are attempting to program. Exceptions are noted in the description for several products. Check there if you feel your radio is a variant of the one shown, but be advised that the manufacturer will never vary. If the model is not listed, you should check with RT Systems prior to your purchase.

Qualifying versions are Windows 5.0 or higher and Mac 6.0 and higher. Earlier versions of the RT Systems programmers do not qualify you for a discounted cross platform purchase.
