The Kenwood radios, TM-D710 (original and new model) and the TM-V71, have the ability to isolate 2M frequencies on the left and 440MHz frequencies on the right of the radio's display. This is the most common request; however, you will see that you have several choices for isolation and inclusion.
Let's begin with the basics.

But with only one "bucket" of memories that display on both the left and the right, how do I get separation of the frequencies so that I have 2M on the left and 440 MHz on the right?
In the programmer go to Settings | PM0 Menu Settings
A little about your radio... you can skip this section if you want. Your radio has 6 Programmable memories. Now, these are not more memory channels. Each is a collection of settings that control how the radio works. They are a GREAT idea. Take for example you want your radio blue for the morning drive and amber for the drive coming home so you can see the display better and you get tired of drilling into the menu on the radio to change the color setting. Just set the display color in PM0 to Blue and the same setting in PM1 to Amber. Then in the morning, simply press the PM key (bottom right) then Off (or 0) for the display to be blue and in the evening press t he PM key and 1 for the display to be Amber. Still some button presses on the front of the radio, but less to do and to remember than changing the setting repeatedly in the menu.
Back to what we're doing... this will have relevance as we go on...
Step 2: Separation of 2M and 440 on the left (Band A) and right (Band B) of the radio.
Access Settings | PM0 Menu Settings (there are other things here... feel free to investigate... but for now, we will use PM0)

Check a band to hide it. Leave it unchecked for it to show. You cannot hide all the bands on either side.
So if you want 2M of the left, check 118, 200, 300 and 440 under A-Band and if you want 440MHz on the right, check 144, 200, 300, and 1200 under B-Band.
Step 3: Save the settings file.
On this screen click File | Save and give the settings file a name (Settings is a really good name).
Once done, click File | Exit to close the settings screen.
Step 4: Send the new configuration to the radio.
Use Communications | Send data to radio to set it to the configuration you created.
