Knowledge Base:
Icom HF Radio Port Settings and how they affect the ability to program the radio from the computer.
Last Updated: 02/27/2020
Many of the Icom radio can program through the USB port using a USB-A to USB-B cable (RT Systems RT-42) or the remote port using the RT Systems USB-RTS01 cable.

On many models, if ANYTHING is plugged into the remote port of the radio, the USB port is basically disabled for programming. This is also true on the VHF and UHF mobile radios that program through the speaker jacks, if you plug a speaker into the other speaker jack, communications between the radio and the computer will fail.
