Receive audio with radios with Emphasis and Compander features
Last Updated: 12/26/2019

Compander: When entering details for memory channels on radios with a compander option, be aware that both radios in use must have the companding option engaged for the feature to work properly. If you investigate companding at, you can see clearly that the companded signal is very different from the original. If the receiving radio has no way to decompress the companded signal, the audio of the received signal will be garbled and/or muted.

In the design of most radios with this feature, Emphasis is on by default. Playing with the radio, that made quite a difference in the sound of the receive audio in another radio. It is recommended you leave Emphasis checked (on) in your memory channels so you friends can better understand you when you're talking.
