IC-7100 E4 Firmware Upgrade
Last Updated: 07/23/2015
On about May 19, 2015, Icom issued a firmware upgrade for the IC-7100. RT Systems learned of this upgrade on May 20th and immediately began changing the WCS-7100 programmer to address the changes.

An update to the programmer was released on May 20. Access the update here.

The update will download and install version 4.50.64 of the WCS-7100 programmer. You will not see the changes until you have updated to that version. Check Help | About in the programmer for the version number.

Once you upgrade the radio AND update the programmer do the following to reset the programmer for the new radio. The programmer will continue to work with radios that have not been subjected to the firmware upgrade.

  • Open the programmer.

  • Select File | New from the menu at the top of the program.

  • Once the new file opens, select Communication | Get data from radio and complete this process.... yes, we know that the radio is empty at this point. This process will tell the programmer that the firmware upgrade has been done.

  • Once the process is completed, open the file that you want to use to program the radio...it is probably the file on the "other" tab at the top of the screen.

  • When you see your frequencies and other details, select Communications | Send data to radio. When this is complete, the radio will be set up again as it was before the upgrade was done.

Call us at RT Systems if you have questions about this process with the programmer.
