FT-857/897 Shortcut Does Not Open Programmer and Icon Is Missing

Last Updated: 01/10/2014
This issue sometimes comes up if you have an installation disc from 2012 or earlier. To resolve it, please follow the instructions below:

Right click on the shortcut for the programmer and click properties. You'll see an entry labeled "Target:", and the text in the box will look something like this:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\RT SystemsV4\RadioEngineV4.exe" /m:FT857RadioData

Yours may be slightly different, but the important part is the part that reads: RT SystemsV4\RadioEngineV4.exe

Change both V4 parts to read V4u, so that it now reads: RT SystemsV4u\RadioEngineV4u.exe

Now, click Apply to save the changes. The shortcut will now properly open the programmer.

To fix the icon, we're going to keep the properties window open. Please click the button labeled Change Icon, then click the button labeled Browse. Select the file at this file path:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Yaesu\FT857_V4u\FT857u.dll

If you do not have a folder labeled "Program Files (x86)", please use "Program Files" instead.

If you are uncomfortable navigating Windows to resolve this problem yourself, please contact our technical support.
