Windows Device Manager

If you are having problems with your RT Systems USB cable, it can be beneficial to open the Device Manager. This will allow you to determine if your computer properly 'sees' your cable. To open the Device Manager on all modern versions of Windows, press 'Windows key' + 'r', then type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotes) into the box that comes up and press enter.

If your keyboard does not have a Windows key, the method to access the device manager will vary based on your operating system. If you're not certain what version of Windows you have, please see this link.

Windows 8:

Move your mouse to the bottom-left corner of the screen. Right-click your mouse and select Device Manager from the list.

Windows Vista and 7:

Click on your Start menu. Right-click on Computer, and select Properties. Device Manager will be one of the options on the left of the window that comes up.

Windows XP:

Click on your Start menu. Click Settings > Control Panel. In the Control Panel, double-click on System. In the window that comes up, select the Hardware tab from the top of the window. In that tab, click on Device Manager.
