RT Systems Programming Software for the
Windows version
requires Windows 8/8.1 (full version), Windows 10 for 32 and 64 bit platforms or Windows 11.
Mac version
requires Mac OS X 10.13.6 (64-bit) or newer.
The cable that comes in the box with the radio is for firmware upgrades when they are available from Yaesu. Do not lose that cable. You may need it in the future to keep the firmware of the radio up to date.
Firmware upgrades differ from radio programming.
The radio must be put into a special mode that allows it to connect to the computer for that process. In the past, this was done with a toggle switch in the radio. The manufacturer wants you well aware that you are altering the internal workings of the radio.
Think of programming as "upper lever" changes to the radio where a firmware upgrade involves "lower", or "deep" changes to the radio. Considering you can do the same changes to the radio via the keypad, knob and menus, programming via the computer does not touch the true underlying workings of the radio. After programming, the radio can be reset to factory defaults through a series of keystrokes.
So you have the choice of the RT Systems USB-68 cable, the Yaesu SCU-18, SCU-19 or SCU-55 cables, or a suitable Micro SD Card for programming.
The Windows version of the RT Systems programmer for this radio now works with "generic" USB cables. USB cables have become a little more consistent and reliable. Consider this as you decide which cable will be best for you.

The SCU-18 and SCU-19 cables do not work on Windows 11.
The cables that come in the boxes with the radios that are not labeled SCU-18, SCU-19 or SCU-55 are NOT for programming.
Many Yaesu radios include cables that are for firmware upgrades NOT for programming. DO NOT lose that cable. You will need it in the future when Yaesu releases a firmware upgrade for the radio.
The SCU-18, SCU-19, SCU-55 or USB-68 programming CANNOT be used for firmware upgrades.
RT Systems supports the Yaesu SCU-18, SCU-19 SCU-55 cables for programming this radio.

The RT Systems USB-68 cable works with Windows 11
Drivers are installed during installation of the programmer. Sometime help is needed to complete driver installation: we are here to help with that.
You do not need to know or assign a com port in the program. The programmer finds the cable automatically.
If there is a problem with communications between the radio and the computer, we are here to help....and we know LOTS of tricks!!
RT Systems programmers work with the radio specified from the manufacturer shown in the description.
RT Systems programmers are designed to work with manufacturer's firmware or approved firmware upgrades. There is no guarantee, and a great deal of doubt, that the programmer will work with a radio that has been upgraded with a firmware version that is not from the manufacturer. RT Systems takes no responsibility for changes made to such a modified radio during programming.
No implication is made that a programmer is appropriate for a radio with a similar number from a different manufacturer. Actually, purchasing a programmer for a radio from a different manufacturer just because it has a similar number is strongly discouraged.
RT Systems takes no responsibility for the performance of your radio should you choose to use a programmer other than that listed specifically for the manufacturer and model of that radio you are attempting to program. Exceptions are noted in the description for several products. Check there if you feel your radio is a variant of the one shown, but be advised that the manufacturer will never vary. If the model is not listed, you should check with RT Systems prior to your purchase.
Installed software is NOT returnable, exchangeable or refundable.
Your purchase is for the RT Systems programmer on ONE operating system: Windows OR Mac.
You make that selection during the purchase from our site or at download if your purchase was through a dealer.
You can have BOTH the Windows and Mac versions at a discount for the second (for programmers that have both a Windows and Mac version available).
Qualifying versions are Windows 5.0 or higher and Mac 6.0 and higher. Earlier versions of the RT Systems programmers do not qualify you for a discounted cross platform purchase.
