RT Systems has become aware of a hardware modification for the IC-705 which involves replacing the standard factory Micro USB port on the radio with a USB-C port.
While we applaud the industrious nature of such projects, we ask you to understand that performing any such modification to your radio runs a high risk of causing the radio to become incompatible with RT Systems software.
RT Systems software is designed around a radio’s factory default state both in terms of hardware and firmware. Modification of the radio’s USB hardware runs the risk of causing driver incompatibilities, Hardware ID corruption, or complete failure of USB functionality. Any of the above will result in a failure to program your radio using RT Systems software.
RT Systems will not be able to provide technical support in instances where your radio’s hardware has been modified.
