This radio is labeled strangely. It shows the UV-5RH on the front and the GM-5RH on the label under the battery. This program is for the GM-5RH.

RT Systems BAO-GM5RH Programming software makes it easy to manage memory channel information and other menu settings of the Baofeng GM-5RH GMRS radio.
Spreadsheet layout with many point and click options.
"Read" the current configuration from the radio for editing or start from scratch in a new file.
The programmer has copy and paste of memory channel information between files.
Column editing for changing several channels with minimal typing.
An easy interface to RFinder-Worldwide Repeater Directory, Radio Reference, or Repeater Book to get repeater information for your location, a travel route, or a vacation spot. Repeater details available for locations in and outside the US. (separate purchase or subscription may be required)
Other built-in frequency lists for easy memory channel entries (check File|External data in the programmer before you spend time on internet searches for frequencies. You may find just what you need!)
Ability to copy and paste spreadsheet or website data.
Much more than just memory channel programming with settings for other radio menu items.
Software works with Windows 8/8.1 (full versions), Windows 10 (32 and 64 bit) and Windows 11.
Preprogrammed with about 30 GMRS repeater and simplex frequencies, this programmer comes ready to go for your operating needs. Customize names and tones for these channels without changing frequencies. Beyond the memory channels are radio menu settings that let you customize your radio's features so it works just as you want. Set voice, display, beeps and others to suit your needs.
Add listen only frequencies in the ham band and beyond using Repeater Book, RFinder or Radio Reference searches built right into the programmer. The programmer will let you know clearly that these are listen only channels with a No Transmit operating mode.
A list of the GMRS frequencies is included incase you want to add one again to set up different tones to match that of another group of friends.

The BAO-5G programmer now works with "generic" USB cables. USB cables have become a little more consistent and reliable. Consider this as you decide which cable will be best for you.

Cables with proper pin spacing for the radio have been around for a long time with varying designs for USB circuitry. some work well. Some work with varying degrees of success. Some don't work at all. Both circuitry design and wiring could be the issue. If you have a cable that works, it should work with the BAO-5G programmer.
A generic cable may cease to work on Windows 11.
When using a generic USB cable for programming, you are responsible for finding and installing drivers.
You are responsible for identifying the com port in use by the cable, assigning that in the program, and changing it should you use a different cable the next time that assigns to a different com port designation.
RT Systems cannot help you with cable setup... there are just too many cables out there for us to begin to know what you have.
USB-K4Y
Performance of the programming system is guaranteed only with the RT Systems USB-K4Y cable.
The RT Systems programming cables work on Windows 11.
Drivers are installed during installation of the programmer. Sometime help is needed to complete driver installation: we are here to help with that.
You do not need to know or assign a com port in the program. The programmer finds the cable automatically.
If there is a problem with communications between the radio and the computer, we are here to help....and we know LOTS of tricks!!
During installation you will be given a choice of which programmer you need for your particular radio. Make your selection from those presented then click Next to continue.
If you are not sure, install all of them. One will work while the others will not. Delete the icons from the screen for the ones that don't work to prevent confusion in the future.
RT Systems programmers work with the radio specified from the manufacturer shown in the description.
RT Systems programmers are designed to work with manufacturer's firmware or approved firmware upgrades. There is no guarantee, and a great deal of doubt, that the programmer will work with a radio that has been upgraded with a firmware version that is not from the manufacturer. RT Systems takes no responsibility for changes made to such a modified radio during programming.
No implication is made that a programmer is appropriate for a radio with a similar number from a different manufacturer. Actually, purchasing a programmer for a radio from a different manufacturer just because it has a similar number is strongly discouraged.
RT Systems takes no responsibility for the performance of your radio should you choose to use a programmer other than that listed specifically for the manufacturer and model of that radio you are attempting to program. Exceptions are noted in the description for several products. Check there if you feel your radio is a variant of the one shown, but be advised that the manufacturer will never vary. If the model is not listed, you should check with RT Systems prior to your purchase.
Installed software is NOT returnable, exchangeable or refundable.
