Great programs, great service
I have used RTS over the years and really like the programs. This one is no exception. Of the 30 programs and 19 cables of theirs that I have, only one cable has had an issue and it was promptly replaced.

Ft 7800 programming software
The program was great. Programmed in less than 10 mins Memory took a little longer, but was able to name the repeaters and the print out was also very handy. It was so good I ordered a set for my BFF8 and it worked well also.

software is terrible
Product does not work like the rest of the 10 or so RT packages I have. I get a prompt to install disk #1 during the CD install. There is none. I call for support told to go to website. Follow the instructions on the website and it still does not work. Why won't you correct the software? I wasted $25 on the software and will not return for any additional purchases

The Windows version of the RT Systems programmer for this radio now works with "generic" USB cables. USB cables have become a little more consistent and reliable. Consider this as you decide which cable will be best for you.

The cable may not work on Windows 11.
You are responsible for finding the drivers for that cable and assigning the correct com port.
Be sure the cable is wired properly and has the proper electronics and connection for the radio.
USB-K4Y
The RT Systems USB-K4Y cable works with Windows 11
Drivers are installed during installation of the programmer. Sometime help is needed to complete driver installation: we are here to help with that.
You do not need to know or assign a com port in the program. The programmer finds the cable automatically.
If there is a problem with communications between the radio and the computer, we are here to help....and we know LOTS of tricks!!
During installation you will be given a choice of which programmer you need for your particular radio. Make your selection from those presented then click Next to continue.
The BF-F8HP radio had different requirements than the original. We did not want to eliminate all those original radios so RT Systems developed a new programmer for that "HP" version. The design of the original allows for only two power settings. The HP version allows for three to match that radio. Use the original or the HP version as needed for your particular radio.
The Mac version accomplishes this same thing through two dmg files contained in a zip that is downloaded. Select the one of these two that you need to install for your particular model.
RT Systems programmers work with the radio specified from the manufacturer shown in the description.
RT Systems programmers are designed to work with manufacturer's firmware or approved firmware upgrades. There is no guarantee, and a great deal of doubt, that the programmer will work with a radio that has been upgraded with a firmware version that is not from the manufacturer. RT Systems takes no responsibility for changes made to such a modified radio during programming.
No implication is made that a programmer is appropriate for a radio with a similar number from a different manufacturer. Actually, purchasing a programmer for a radio from a different manufacturer just because it has a similar number is strongly discouraged.
RT Systems takes no responsibility for the performance of your radio should you choose to use a programmer other than that listed specifically for the manufacturer and model of that radio you are attempting to program. Exceptions are noted in the description for several products. Check there if you feel your radio is a variant of the one shown, but be advised that the manufacturer will never vary. If the model is not listed, you should check with RT Systems prior to your purchase.
Installed software is NOT returnable, exchangeable or refundable.
Your purchase is for the RT Systems programmer on ONE operating system: Windows OR Mac.
You make that selection during the purchase from our site or at download if your purchase was through a dealer.
You can have BOTH the Windows and Mac versions at a discount for the second (for programmers that have both a Windows and Mac version available).
Qualifying versions are Windows 5.0 or higher and Mac 6.0 and higher. Earlier versions of the RT Systems programmers do not qualify you for a discounted cross platform purchase.
For a dealer purchase, provide proof of purchase to
