Somewhat dissapointed
Replacement cable you sent me Does not work at all. I put the USB cable from my photo scanner back on and everything works fine.The only difference I can see is that the cable I furnished something clamped over the cable on one end. I don’t know if this has any effect on how the cable works or not. Over the years I have purchased RTS programmers for, Kenwood TM-V7, TM-281, Yaesu; FT-90, FT-400, FT-1200, FT-891, FT-817ND, FT-857, FT-2 and this one, the FT-991. All except the last one worked faultlessly. The cable that works is from my small Edson photo scanner

Good software, could be updated to be more intuiative. Documentation is generic. Hadd it changed some settings on its own once. After doing it 5 or 6 times you start to get it down. Be sure to save a master copy so you can always load a baseline to start over from.

Excellent product , these are the only cables and software i use . Never any issues or problems

The Windows version of the RT Systems programmer for this radio now works with "generic" USB cables. USB cables have become a little more consistent and reliable. Consider this as you decide which cable will be best for you. The Mac version of the RT Systems programmer requires the RT Systems USB-29F cable.

The cable may not work on Windows 11.
You are responsible for finding the drivers for that cable and assigning the correct com port.
Be sure the cable is wired properly and has the proper electronics and connection for the radio.
USB-29F
The RT Systems USB-29F cable works with Windows 11
Drivers are installed during installation of the programmer. Sometime help is needed to complete driver installation: we are here to help with that.
You do not need to know or assign a com port in the program. The programmer finds the cable automatically.
If there is a problem with communications between the radio and the computer, we are here to help....and we know LOTS of tricks!!
RT Systems programmers work with the radio specified from the manufacturer shown in the description.
RT Systems programmers are designed to work with manufacturer's firmware or approved firmware upgrades. There is no guarantee, and a great deal of doubt, that the programmer will work with a radio that has been upgraded with a firmware version that is not from the manufacturer. RT Systems takes no responsibility for changes made to such a modified radio during programming.
No implication is made that a programmer is appropriate for a radio with a similar number from a different manufacturer. Actually, purchasing a programmer for a radio from a different manufacturer just because it has a similar number is strongly discouraged.
RT Systems takes no responsibility for the performance of your radio should you choose to use a programmer other than that listed specifically for the manufacturer and model of that radio you are attempting to program. Exceptions are noted in the description for several products. Check there if you feel your radio is a variant of the one shown, but be advised that the manufacturer will never vary. If the model is not listed, you should check with RT Systems prior to your purchase.
Installed software is NOT returnable, exchangeable or refundable.
Your purchase is for the RT Systems programmer on ONE operating system: Windows OR Mac.
You make that selection during the purchase from our site or at download if your purchase was through a dealer.
You can have BOTH the Windows and Mac versions at a discount for the second (for programmers that have both a Windows and Mac version available).
Qualifying versions are Windows 5.0 or higher and Mac 6.0 and higher. Earlier versions of the RT Systems programmers do not qualify you for a discounted cross platform purchase.
For a dealer purchase, provide proof of purchase to

with the receipt for that purchase, the original serial number and the email address you used for download and installation. The cross platform version will be $15.00
To add the other operating system for an RT Systems order, let us know that you want the Programmer for that operating system and the email address you used for your account. The cross platform version will be $15.00
