ON THE 857 & 897...

If the cable works to TX and RX with our software - but can't get it to work with HRD, 1-make sure radio is set to CAT(menu item #20)  2-may need to lower the value(menu item #19)  3-radio needs to be in VFO mode.

Instructions to get to menu item 20 - 1)to get to menu-push and hold the function key  2)extended menu-must be on (turn right knob to change)  3) turn up to menu item #20 - to CAT/Lin/Tun   4) Must be on CAT --- Then at menu item 19, what is the value? (standard speed is 38,400) this may have gotten way out of wack with messing, the radio might not handle higher speed so may want to lower to about 9600.  Press and Hold the function key until you return to the frequency - need to be in VFO mode (displayed in upper left corner) press VM key on side of radio if needed.   

In HRD program, go to serial ports tab, check box - x only ports connected to pc, may want to make sure the port is on 4 or lower OR put both selections to auto detect in new and it should automatically find the port....
