Cabling for PEP2000 Firmware Upgrade
Last Updated: 04/11/2013
RT Systems is here to offer support for the cabling to complete this process. We are not here to discuss the procedure or what it does or does not do.  Any support for the PEP2000 upgrade process is provided by Yaesu tech support.

As published in documentation from Yaesu 03/02/2012.  Use the CT-119 programming cable OR an 8-pin mini-DIN PGM-SW (P0091526) AND serial cable RS-232C, DB9F to DB9F straight cable. (a little confusing...)

                          -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The CT-119
Available though Yaesu dealers - See the dealers list on Yaesu's web page or return to the one from whom you purchased your radio.

This cable terminates on the computer end in a DB-9 (comport) connection.

The RTS-03 from RT Systems (also available at many Yaesu dealers) is recommended to convert this to USB should you not have a DB-9 port on your computer (and most don't these days!!)

This is your alternative to purchasing the CT-119 cable.

If the DIN PGM-SW is not available you will need to operate the internal program switch S3004. Please follow the instructions in ADDENDUM: Page 7 and 9.

                          -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The RS-232 serial cable (Female to Female)
Available through computer stores, cable stores on-line, maybe local office supply stores.  Be sure to get a "STRAIGHT THROUGH" cable or it will not work.

The RTS-03 from RT Systems (also available at many Yaesu dealers) is recommended to convert this to USB should you not have a DB-9 port on your computer (and most don't these days!!)

The USB-63 cable takes care of both of these pieces in one.  USB to the connection on the back of the radio.  The USB-63 is available from many Yaesu dealers or from the RT Systems site.

                          -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, at least one cable - the USB-63. With the mechanical adjustment to the radio.

      OR

A serial cable (that you locate elsewhere)  and an RTS-03 USB adapter (that will work when others might or might not). With the mechanical adjustment to the radio.

      OR

The USB-63 AND the CT-119 (purchased elsewhere) plus an RTS-03 USB adapter. (No mechanical adjustment to the radio required)

                          -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The good news... the USB-63 can be used for control with Ham Radio Deluxe once you complete the update to the radio.
