Less Than 6 Characters Error Occurs After Update

Last Updated: 02/13/2014
This error was caused by the update released on 13 Feb. 2014. The update expanded the functionality of the programmer to include the radio's GPS and scan settings, but the expansion rendered old settings files unusable. There are two methods to correct this error; if the simpler method 1 does not work, please try method 2 instead. Method 2 is a little more involved but will definitely resolve the issue.

Method 1:

Use a new settings file. To do this, click Settings > Radio Menu Settings to open the settings window, and in the settings window, click File > New.

Save this file (click File > Save, and give the file a name), and try adjusting the GPS settings now. If it triggers the error again, please try method 2.

Method 2:

If you are not comfortable or not able to edit your computer's registry, please contact RT Systems Technical Support at 800-921-4834 between 8 AM - 5 PM Mountain Time, Monday - Friday. Otherwise, read on.

Open the registry editor. There are several ways to do this, but the most direct is to press "Windows Key" + "R" on your keyboard. In the box that comes up, type "regedit" without the quotes, and press enter.

Expand the following directories by clicking the arrow or plus sign next to them: HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > RT SystemsV4U > Icom > IC-7100 Programmer > Settings.

Click on the settings directory, and you will see several registry values appear in the right window.

Delete the keys labeled "Current Setting File" and "SettingDir"
