Existing programmers work for new radios!!!... sort of.

Well, this is a first...a new radio that does not require new software for programming. Yaesu's introduction of five new radios at Dayton 2009 was exciting. Now even more exciting is the discovery that you will not necessarily need new software for computer programming.

The FT-7900 can be programmed using the existing ADMS-2K programming kit.

The FT-250 can be programmed using the existing ADMS-1F programming kit.

The FT-270 can be programmed using the existing ADMS-VX170 programming kit.

New discovery... the FT-7900, FT-2500 and FT-270 each have a feature that their predecessors did not. Split Tones. Yes..a different tone for Rx and TX. So while the existing software will program the new radios, it will not address this new feature. The existing software will not be updated to address this new feature since this feature is not in the design of the existing radio.

Also, if you go from a new radio to the predecessor, you may get some unexpected results. Again, it will not hurt the radio; but the functionality of the radio may be other than what you expect.

The FT-1900 and the FT-2900 have not yet been tested with an existing programmer. While it is logical to presume that they will work with existing programming kits, you really want to let us risk our radios first. We'll post results here as soon as we know.

New Programmers in the works
RT Systems announces that work has begun on programmers for the IC-80 and ID-880 radios. We hope to have these completed later this summer. A blog will start soon to keep you posted on our progress.

Programmers available through RT Systems, Inc. or Local Dealers
Any of the Yaesu Programmers containing RT Systems software are available through your local radio dealer. Check there for availability and fast delivery. Click to access the Yaesu Dealer Search

The RT Systems' Programming kits for Icom radios are available through all AES and HRO stores as well as Gigaparts, Ham Station and others. Check with your local dealer; but be sure to ask specifically for RT Systems' Programming Kits.

Buy with confidence knowing that if you have questions about the programmers, RT Systems tech support is available to help you. Also, the latest update for a qualifying programmer can be found for download on the Software Updates page of this site.

Lack of response to e-mail
It appears that many providers block responses to your e-mails. If you want to be sure to get the information you requested, mark the e-mail address you send your message to as acceptable (i.e., WebSales@rtsystemsinc.com or Techsupport@rtsystemsinc.com , etc...) Otherwise, you may never hear from us.

If you take the time to ask, we would think that you hope to get information in return. Make it possible for us to send you that information.

Also, if you send a second request for information, include your phone number. A phone response may get through when e-mail cannot.
